Dangerously rising water levels inside a flooded cave in Laos have forced rescue divers to suspend their search for two missing villagers, as heavy rain threatens to further complicate an already precarious operation. The two individuals are part of a group of seven who became trapped after a sudden flash flood blocked the entrance to the cave system.
Authorities confirmed that the group had entered the cavern in search of valuable minerals, a common but high-risk activity in the region's karst landscapes. While five of the villagers managed to escape, two remain unaccounted for deep inside the flooded passages.
